Questions and answers about FLYER e-bike batteries
All FLYER e-bikes are equipped with high-performance batteries that contain specially developed cell types for use with e-bikes. They offer an ideal balance between capacity, performance, weight and service life. The special feature of lithium-ion batteries is their particularly high energy density. This means they can store more energy and are relatively low in weight.
With outstanding endurance: FLYER batteries
With their high-capacity batteries, FLYER e-bikes with FIT are champions of both distance and altitude. All our batteries are ideal to handle. They are easy to remove and can be charged directly on the bike or away from the bike.
The semi-integrated 630 or 750 Wh FLYER Smart Integrated Battery (SIB) provides a great deal of energy for long tours that cover large differences in altitude. Smart battery integration makes it easy to change the battery and guarantees a vibration-free fit. The battery can be charged on the e-bike itself or away from the bike.

With its high-capacity 630 or 750 Wh FLYER Seat Tube Battery (STB), the e-bike is a champion of both distance and altitude. The battery can be charged on the bike itself or easily removed. The large grip area makes for simple handling.

The FLYER Fully Integrated Battery (FIB) has a capacity of an incredible 810 Wh, which guarantees an extremely long range. When braking or using the appropriate riding mode, the motor generates energy that is fed back into the battery and increases the range (recuperation). Providing the perfect combination of full integration and the simplest battery handling. It is easy to charge the battery on the e-bike and away from the bike.

Integrated and beautifully shaped: Bosch batteries
Bosch e-bike batteries combine a high level of capacity with a light weight and an ergonomic design. The beautifully shaped integrated batteries are easy to remove and can be charged either directly on the bike or away from the bike.
Bosch PowerTube batteries provide a great deal of energy for any tour and fit perfectly into the design of the e-bike thanks to their compact size and minimalist style. The large 625 Wh battery allows riders to take on long distances and the 500 Wh battery provides enough energy to be able to explore new routes on the spur of the moment. Sophisticated technology and the carefully thought out positioning of the PowerTube battery guarantee a vibration-free fit. Yet the battery is still easy to remove and can be charged either away from the e-bike or directly on the e-bike using the protected charging port.

Bosch PowerPack batteries boast the highest energy density, a compact size and a light weight. In combination with the Bosch PowerTube 625 the battery capacity of up to 1125 Wh guarantees a massive range, which is ideal for endless tours and great differences in altitude.
Charging the e-bike battery
You can charge the battery separately or directly on your FLYER e-bike at any time without shortening the service life. Interrupting the charging process doesn’t damage the battery. FLYER and Bosch batteries are characterised by long energy storage with no memory effect.
The charging time depends on the battery capacity. Our Bosch PowerPack 500 battery can be half charged after 1.5 to 2 hours, for example. You’ll need a maximum of 4.5 hours to fully charge the battery.
A battery management system is integrated into the FLYER battery to protect the battery against overcharging, undervoltage and overheating. Single cell monitoring ensures safe, reliable and gentle charging.
Storing the battery
If the bike is going to be stored for a longer period of time, e.g. over the winter, we recommend that you charge the battery to a charge level of 40-60% and store it in a dry location at room temperature. At this charge level, the battery charge level display will show three full bars. Check the charge level after 6-8 weeks at the latest and charge the battery accordingly if necessary.
Performance and range
No, batteries are only compatible with their product line and should not be used with other models or brands.
In principle a battery loses approximately 10% capacity per year. However, the exact service life cannot be predicted as this depends on the nature and duration of the demands made of it. We recommend switching to a new battery after approximately 4 to 5 years.
Following simple rules for protection, transport and correct storage can have a positive impact on the service life of a battery.
Keep your e-bike battery in a dry environment and protect it from direct sunlight. A room temperature of 15 to 20 degrees Celsius is ideal for storing your battery. The battery should also be charged at room temperature. When transporting your e-bike, it is best to remove the battery and store it safely in your car.
The range depends on a large number of factors so an exact prognosis isn’t possible. The size of the battery, the power of the motor and the assistance level selected have the biggest impact on the range. However, the topography, surface, pedal frequency, tyre pressure, outside temperature and total weight, for example, are also important. The Bosch e-bike system range assistant gives you an overview of the different influences of various factors on the range.
The cold reduces a battery’s performance. You should ideally store your e-bike battery at room temperature in the winter and attach it just before the trip.
9 tips for a longer range, meaning your e-bike’s battery will last longer in winter.

Cleaning and disposing of e-bike batteries
Remove the battery before you clean your e-bike. Try and keep water out of the battery compartment. If needed, you can get protective caps for the battery compartment from your FLYER dealer in order to prevent direct contact with dirt and water.
You can clean the battery with a damp cloth when required. Avoid using strong detergents as these may damage the surface.
Faulty batteries cannot be repaired. If you think that your battery is no longer working, let a FLYER specialist retailer check it. They will establish if the battery really has a defect or if there is some other problem.
Bring your e-bike battery to your FLYER dealer. S/he will check if the battery really has a defect or if there is some other problem. If your battery has a defect, your FLYER dealer will dispose of it properly. You already paid to have the battery disposed of when you bought your battery.
