Reach your goals with FLYER

Wouldn’t it be great to cycle more often? With a FLYER e-bike cycling feels like flying. It releases stress, you work on your health, it’s good for the environment and it is just fun to do!

But how are you going to make sure that you cycle more often?

Setting goals

The new year is coming, and it is all about setting goals or so-called new year’s resolutions. As every year, we start off strong with our new goals, but then the slack comes to it and we forget about them as easily as 1,2,3.

Step one; set a goal for yourself. This doesn’t have to be big, it can be as easy as trading your car once a week for the bike and cycle to work. Or maybe you would like to take a longer cycling trip to Rome or Santiago the Compostella. Whatever your goal may be, make sure your goal is SMART:

Specifico: Using real numbers instead of “cycling more”.
Measurable: Make sure you can track your goal, so once a week.
Attainable: Make it challenging, but possible.
Realistic: Be hones with yourself and make sure you can make it happen if you really put some effort in it.
Time-bound: Give yourself a deadline and keep pushing.

Make sure you write down your new goal to make it more real:

Next year I will cycle to work once a week.

Planning

A goal or new habit requires planning. If you are used to taking the car and now swapping it for the bike once a week, you need to consider some things. You maybe have to leave earlier then normally. Check how long it will be to cycle to work and see at what time you must leave the house. Also take in account the time to get your bike from the storage.

How much time do you need in the morning? Make sure you reset your alarm for this day.

It can help to prep your morning a day earlier. Check if the tires are okay, if the battery is charged and if your bag is ready to go. This will cost you maybe 5 to 10 minutes, but can be very helpful in succeeding in the morning. Believe us, you will thank yourself the next day.

Last, but not least is plan the day that you are going to cycle to work. Will this be every Wednesday or Friday? Or will this be different every week, depending on your schedule? Make sure that before the week starts, you write down for yourself: On (every) Monday, I will cycle to work, to start the week fresh and active.

What do you have to do to reach your goal? Write it down and make a planning for yourself.

Stay consistent

Consistency is key for reaching goals or teaching yourself a new habit. It usually takes us about 66 days to make a new habit stick to our routine, depending on what we want. Make it easier for yourself to start with 1 habit at a time, instead of having too much goals to keep track on.

It is okay if you miss one week of cycling. As long as you get back at it the week after! Staying consistent is important for all new things. Failing is not an option, it is something that happens to all of us from time to time. The secret is not to let yourself down by this failure. Accept the failure, get up and get back to it.

Reward

What would be your reward when you achieve your goal? Goals are never easy, so having something to work towards to can be extra motivating to stick to it. Search for something you want for a long time already, connect it to your goal and start to work towards it.

So, what is your goal for next year and how are you going to make sure you crush it?
