FLYER e-bike tips for the winter.

We have summarised the most important points to make sure that you start the winter season safe and sound.
“There is no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing.”
If you take these words to heart, you will be prepared for anything the dark and cold time of year throws at you. The layering principle ensures that you come out on top in the battle against the cold. When layering your clothes, start with a bottom layer that transports moisture away from your skin and keeps your body warm at the same time. On top of this layer, add wind-proof and water-resistant clothing for additional warmth and protection. Gloves will be your most trusty companions, ensuring that you can still operate your brakes safely. A headband or thin cap for under your helmet will protect your cold-sensitive ears and head. If it is snowing or raining heavily just as you are about to leave, rain trousers and a rain jacket or a poncho, plus rain covers for your helmet and shoes will make sure you remain dry on your journey.
Is your FLYER e-bike ready for winter?
The most important tips in a nutshell: check that your tyres still have enough tread depth. If you are riding on extremely icy or snow-covered ground, spikes may help. They increase road grip, but are only permitted for e-bikes with assistance up to 25 km/h. Rain and splash water cannot damage the components.
See and be seen.
In the winter, it gets dark earlier so it is particularly important that e-bikers are clearly visible to other road users. It is best to ride with your light on during the day as well and to make sure that you wear reflective clothing. You can also attach reflectors to the pedals and spokes of your e-bike or apply reflective stickers all over your bike.
Look ahead when you ride.
Before you warm up indoors, there are a few things you need to do to your e-bike. Remove the battery and, ideally, store it inside at a temperature of between 15 and 20 degrees. This also applies to batteries that are integrated into the frame. If you are not going to be using your e-bike for a longer period of time, make sure that your battery does not deep discharge. If dirt and salt are washed off immediately after the ride, dirt will not adhere to your bike in the first place. Storing your e-bike in a cellar or garage is ideal. If you have to leave your e-bike outside, bike covers provide protection against rain and snow.
