Voluntary nature of data disclosure

The provision of your personal data on this website is generally speaking not required either by law or under contract. You are not obliged to enter any personal data into this website, unless we specify otherwise for the specific individual circumstances in this Privacy Statement. Nevertheless, the provision of the functions available on this website and order handling will require the processing of your personal data.

SSL or TLS encryption

For security reasons and in order to protect transfers of confidential content, such as for example orders or enquiries that you send to us as the operator of the site, this site uses SSL or TLS encryption. An encrypted connection may be recognised by the fact that the address line of the browser changes from “http://” to “https://” along with the padlock symbol in the browser line.

If SSL or TLS encryption has been activated, the data that you transmit to us cannot be read by a third party.

General information concerning cookies

Cookies are small text files that are saved on your end device by the relevant browser used whenever you visit our website. This enables certain individual services of a website to “recognise” you and to “note” which settings you have applied. This is necessary in order to make the website user friendly (e.g. saving login data). Cookies are also used in order to collect statistical data concerning website usage and use the data thereby obtained for analysis and marketing purposes.

Some cookies are automatically erased by your end device as soon as you leave the website (so-called session cookies). Other cookies are saved for a particular period of time, up to a maximum of two years (persistent cookies). In addition, we also use third-party cookies, which are managed by third parties, in order to offer or use particular services.

You can decide how cookies will be used. Most browsers have the option of limiting or completely blocking the saving of cookies. However, please note that usage and in particular ease of usage may be limited without cookies.

Contacting us

When contacting us (for example by email or by using the contact form), the information provided by you will be processed for the purpose of handling your enquiry and in the event of any follow-up questions.

Legal basis

The information provided when contacting us will be processed on the basis of Article 6(1)(a) and (f) GDPR. This form of approval enables personal data to be processed on the basis of your consent and in accordance with the “legitimate interest” of the controller, unless these are overridden by your fundamental rights, basic freedoms or interests. We have a legitimate interest in responding when we are contacted. You can object to this processing of your data at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation that preclude the processing of data. In order to do so, it is sufficient to send an email to privacy@flyer.ch.

Period of data retention

The personal data stored after contacting us will be erased once the issue raised when contacting us has been fully clarified and it is not expected that the specific contact will be relevant again in future.

Server log files

We automatically collect a range of technical data whenever the website is accessed, which constitute personal data.

These include:

  • the user’s IP address
  • the name of the website or file accessed
  • the date and time of access
  • the volume of data transferred
  • a report as to whether the transfer was successful
  • the browser type and version
  • the user’s operating system
  • the end device used by the user, including the MAC address
  • the referrer URL (the site previously visited)

These data will not be cross-referenced with other personal data that you actively provide in relation to the website. We collect server log files for the purpose of administering the website and recognising and defending against unauthorised access.

Legal basis

The personal data contained in log files will be processed on the basis of Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. This form of approval enables personal data to be processed in accordance with the “legitimate interest” of the controller, unless this is overridden by your fundamental rights, basic freedoms or interests. We have a legitimate interest in facilitating administration as well as the possibility of recognising and tracing hacking. You can object to this processing of your data at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation that preclude the processing of data. In order to do so, it is sufficient to send an email to privacy@flyer.ch.

What are IP-addresses?

An IP address is allocated to every device (e.g. smartphone, tablet, PC) that connects to the internet. The specific IP address is dependent upon the particular point of access to the internet through which your end device is currently connected to the internet. This may be the IP address allocated to you by your internet provider, for instance if you are connected to the internet at home through your W-LAN. However, it may also be an IP address allocated to you by your mobile telephone provider or the IP address of the provider or a public or private W-LAN or any other internet access. In its currently most prevalent form (IPv4), the IP address is comprised of four numerical blocks. For the most part, as a private user, you will not always use the same IP address, as these are only allocated to you by your provider on a temporary basis (so-called “dynamic IP address”). In the event that a permanent IP address has been allocated (so-called “static IP address”), it is in principle easier for user data to be allocated unequivocally to a particular user. However, except in order to trace unauthorised access to our online content, we shall not in principle use these data with reference to a specific person, but will rather only assess on an anonymous basis which of our websites is favoured, how many times it is accessed each day and similar aspects.

Period of data retention

The server log files containing the data specified above will be erased automatically after 3 months. We reserve the right to store the server log files for a longer period in the event that the circumstances suggest that unauthorised access has occurred (such as for example attempted hacking or a so-called DDOS attack).

Google Analytics

This website uses Google Analytics, a web analysis service of Google Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics saves various “cookies” in order to be able to identify your browser.

The information about your use of this website generated by the cookies is generally transmitted to a Google server in the US and stored there. However, we have activated the IP anonymisation function on this website, so that your IP address will be abbreviated in advance by Google within a Member State of the European Union or within another state party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Further information concerning the implementation of this function may be found here:  https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/collection/analyticsjs/ip-anonymization. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transmitted to a Google server in the US and abbreviated there. Google will use this information on behalf of the operator of this website to evaluate your use of the website, to draw up reports about the website’s activities and to provide other services for the website operator relating to the use of the website and the internet. Google shall not link the IP address transmitted by your browser as part of Google Analytics activities to other data.

Legal basis

The processing of personal data by Google Analytics will occur on the basis of Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. This form of approval enables personal data to be processed in accordance with the “legitimate interest” of the controller, unless this is overridden by your fundamental rights, basic freedoms or interests. Our legitimate interest consists in analysing usage of our website. You may also prevent Google from transferring the data generated by the cookie concerning your use of the website (including your IP address) and from processing this data by downloading and installing the browser plugin available via the following link: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en&safe=strict. You can object to this continuing processing of your data at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation that preclude the processing of data. In order to do so, it is sufficient to send an email to privacy@flyer.ch.

Period of data retention

Attributability to a particular person will be excluded immediately by the partial erasure of the IP addresses, with the result that only statistical data are saved.

Google Maps API

This site uses the map service Google Maps through an API. The provider is Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA.

In order to use Google Maps functions, it is necessary to store your IP address. This information will as a rule be transferred to a Google server in the USA and saved at that location. The provider of this site does not have any control over this data transfer.

Legal basis

The processing of personal data by Google Maps API will occur on the basis of Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. This form of approval enables personal data to be processed in accordance with the “legitimate interest” of the controller, unless this is overridden by your fundamental rights, basic freedoms or interests. Our legitimate interest consists in the improvement of our website and our online content by showing how to reach us. Further information concerning data processing by Google may be found at https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=en. You can also change your personal settings there.

Google double click

We use DoubleClick by Google on our website. DoubleClick by Google is a digital marketing service technology. In order to show you relevant advertising, DoubleClick by Google uses cookies which save information concerning adverts that have been displayed and clicked on. In addition, as a service provider, DoubleClick by Google holds data in order to conduct advertising campaigns and amalgamates these with its own data in order to achieve higher hit accuracy. Advertising may be purchased and sold on an automated basis and in real time. For this purpose, DoubleClick by Google identifies the advertising environment, thereby enabling the programmed sale of advertising space or the purchase of environment-specific adverts.

It is possible to opt out under https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads?hl=en. Further information concerning Google Double Click may be found at https://www.doubleclickbygoogle.com/

Our data processing is based on our legitimate interest pursuant to Article 6(1)(f) GDPR in addressing our users in a manner that reflects their interests by displaying usage-based online advertising. You can object to this continuing processing of your data at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation that preclude the processing of data. In order to do so, it is sufficient to send an email to privacy@flyer.ch.

Period of data retention

The data will be erased within at most one year.

Cookies and plugins in order to enhance user-friendliness

We use cookies in order to make our website more user-friendly. This means that we can, for example, provide functions that are desired by you, such as a shopping basket function, or facilitate electronic communication processes. In addition, the cookies saved by us that use pseudonymised data enable you to be directed towards interesting content on third-party sites, such as Facebook or Twitter.

We use the following cookies and plugins for this purpose.

  • Retargeting plugin of the social network Facebook

Our pages incorporate retargeting tags from the social network Facebook, 1601 South California Avenue, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA. If you visit our website, a direct link will be created through the retargeting tags between your browser and the Facebook server. Facebook is thereby informed that you and your IP address have visited our website. This enables Facebook to allocate the visit to our website to your user account. We can use the information thereby obtained in order to display Facebook ads. Please note that, as the operator of the website, we are unaware of the content of the data transmitted or of how they are used by Facebook. Further information may be found in the Facebook Data Policy at  www.facebook.com/about/privacy/. If you do not wish any data to be collected via Custom Audience, you can deactivate Custom Audience here: www.facebook.com/ads/website_custom_audiences/

  • Google Retargeting

This website uses so-called “retargeting tags”. Third-party providers, including Google, use saved cookies in order to display adverts based on the previous visits by a user to this website. Studies have shown that the display of advertising that is tailored to users’ interests is more interesting for internet users than advertising that is not directly related to their interests or the websites previously visited. No personal data will be stored and retargeting technology will only be used in accordance with applicable data protection law.

You may deactivate cookies by visiting the page for opting out of Google advertising and clicking on the opt-out button on that page. Alternatively, users can deactivate the cookies of third-party providers by visiting the opt-out page of the Network Advertising Initiative

  • With the Twitter and re-tweet functions we use plugins from  twitter.com, provided by Twitter Inc., 795 Folsom St., Suite 600, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. If you use the re-tweet functions, the pages visited by you will be disclosed to third parties and associated with your Twitter account. Details concerning how your data are handled by Twitter Inc. along with your rights and privacy settings options may be found in the Twitter Privacy Policy.
  • YouTube

Our website uses plugins from the site YouTube operated by Google. The operator of this site is YouTube, LLC, 901 Cherry Ave., San Bruno, CA 94066, USA. If you visit any of our pages featuring a YouTube plugin, a connection will be established with the YouTube servers. The YouTube server will be informed which of our pages you have visited. If you are logged in to your YouTube account, you will enable YouTube to allocate your browsing activity directly to your personal profile. You can prevent this by logging out of your YouTube account. YouTube is used in the interest of presenting our online content in an appropriate manner. This constitutes a legitimate interest for us within the meaning of Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Further information concerning how user data are handled may be found in the YouTube Privacy Policy at: https://policies.google.com/privacy.

Legal basis

The cookies mentioned will be stored on the basis of Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. In all cases the data concerned will be pseudonymised data, which enable allocation to a particular user group based on statistical analysis (e.g. gender, age, place of residence or occupation). Attributability to a particular person will not be established and we will also not use any comprehensive advertising network. You can object to this continuing processing of your data at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation that preclude the processing of data. In order to do so, it is sufficient to send an email to privacy@flyer.ch.

Period of data retention

The data will be erased within at most one year.
